We had an amazing start of the school year. The students and staff were so excited for the entire first week of school. To see the joy on the students' faces as they returned to specials and had a chance to build relationships with their class was definitely the highlight of the week. As we begin the second week of school we will continue to build relationships and we will begin the assessment process. Our goal is to understand each learner in our building and then customize learning opportunities for them during our WIN time.
We also need your help from home to keep our school as safe as possible. Please make sure your child’s mask fits them correctly. Their mask should cover their mouth and nose throughout the entire day. If your child needs a different mask we will provide one for them and contact home. This mitigation practice will help us keep a safe learning environment for our learners and staff.
A Few Reminders
- Late start Thursdays will begin this week.
- Late start on every Thursday
- Start Time: 9:30 AM
- Students can be dropped off starting at 9:15 AM

- Please make sure your child has a well fitted mask that covers their mouth and nose throughout the day.
Running with the Hawks (RWTH)
In September we will be kicking off our building fundraiser called “Running with the Hawks”. This fitness based activity is our only fundraiser of the year and we would greatly appreciate your support. More information will be sent home by our PTO on Friday, September 3. The students will be put on teams during their PE class and then they will collect pledges from friends and family. The teams will then compete in a timed relay race on Thursday, October 7. We hope to see many of our North Grove families at this fun event. A schedule of run times will be sent out soon. The funds collected from this event go directly to our PTO and they help support our school activities and teacher requests.

EarlyAct is a student leadership group that helps run our character education program called BOLD. This after school club gives students the opportunity to serve in a leadership role within their school. During these meetings we plan and produce activities that reinforce our character trait for the month. If your child is a 5th grader and they are interested in joining EarlyAct, please have them fill out the application form which will be handed out on Friday, August 27.
During the weeks of August 30 through September 10 your child will participate in an assessment called Measures of Academic Progress (MAP). We use the MAP assessments to determine your child's instructional level and to measure academic growth throughout the school year. These online tests focus on the areas of reading and math and they adapt to be appropriate for your child's level of learning. A schedule of specific testing times will be shared by your child’s classroom teacher.
Important PTO Event Dates
Please consider becoming active on our North Grove PTO this year. Attached you will find a list of important dates for our PTO events. Please take a moment to enter these dates into your calendars.
Additionally, please join us for our first PTO meeting of the year which is Monday, September 13 at 8:00 PM. We will meet in the cafeteria at North Grove and all are welcome!
Good news! No more clipping Box Tops to participate in the Box Top Program. All you need to do is download the all new Box Tops app, shop as you normally would, and then scan your store receipts to find participating products. The app will automatically credit the earnings to North Grove online. Twice a year, North Grove’s PTO will receive a check and use that money to help our school.
Federal aid is now available specifically to help families pay for high-speed internet service, plus a computer or tablet. It’s called the Emergency Broadband Benefit, and it provides discounts of up to $50 a month for high-speed internet along with a one time discount of up to $100 for a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet purchased through a participating provider.
Households qualify if anyone in the household is eligible for the free and reduced-price school lunch or breakfast programs; participates in SNAP, Medicaid, or Lifeline; received a Federal Pell Grant this year; or lost significant income due to furlough or job loss since Feb. 29, 2020.
