Asynchronous School Days

Our district has been fortunate enough to receive several opportunities for the COVID-19 vaccine over the past month. Once again this week several of our staff members will have the opportunity to receive their second vaccine dose. To ensure that our staff has the ability to recover from any side effects we will have one day of fully asynchronous learning this week.

  • These days will be fully asynchronous
  • No students will attend school on Thursday

Asynchronous School Days

  • Thursday, March 4

To order online, go to and enter in the code 54488X.  All orders are due on or before Thursday, March 18.  The cost of the North Grove Yearbook is $11.00.

All 5th graders will receive a free yearbook - Compliments of the North Grove PTO!

Chromebook Update

We are excited to share that the district Chromebooks for grades 2-5 were handed out over the last few weeks. This week all students in 1st graders will receive their Chromebooks. On the day that they attend in person learning we will give them a Chromebook, charging cord, and carrying case. Remote students will pick up their device during supply pickup (Please stop in the office to receive your Chromebook). Please make sure that your student charges their device each night. They should start transporting their Chromebook to school and home each day. This will allow us to connect the current resources that we are using and it will allow us to connect the student at home to our students in the room. Please read the important reminders below and let me know if you have any questions.

  • Please charge your device nightly
  • Use the district provided carrying case
  • Students should bring their device and charging cord daily
  • Students who currently have a district device will receive a carrying case (Hybrid Only)

5 Essentials Survey

Districts throughout Illinois are asked to participate in the 5Essential survey to gather information from our faculty, students and parents to gain insight into the key components of all successful schools. These areas include effective leaders, collaborative teachers, involved families, supportive environments, and ambitious instruction. The results of the survey responses are reported back to the schools for their review and planning for future school improvement focus items within the five areas.

We need your assistance and your feedback. The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete and can be completed on your smart device. Your participation in the parent survey will help us understand the conditions here at the school and guide improvement. Your identity and individual survey responses will be kept completely confidential and will never be connected to you or your child. For more information about the Illinois 5Essentials Survey, please visit

International Travel

Please note that if you are planning to travel internationally you will have additional quarantine and/or Covid testing requirements prior to returning to school. If you have any travel plans taking you and your family out of the country, please reach out to the school. The district head nurse will work with the county health department to establish safe return to school procedures for your students.

Sousa's March Mania

Have you lost a bit of the pep in your step? Feel the need to walk all over winter?  Join us in celebrating March musically with “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band Sousa March Mania. Simply print your march bracket and mark which march will win each day. Then, every day in March, listen as two marches go head-to-head, and vote for the one you think should win. This will be replacing our bonus travels for March and you can participate as much as you wish. For those of you who want to go all the way, you could win a virtual game of Connect Four with Mrs. Mertens!

Here are the steps:

  1. Download, print your brackets, and decide which marches should win each match-up. March Mania Brackets
  2. Fill out the survey by March 5th to enter to win a virtual game with your music teacher, if you choose the correct March. March Survey
  3. Go to this link each day to listen to the March Match-up for the day and vote for the one you like best. Listen Here
